I'm on the hunt for a self-hosted CMS that offers a user interface similar to Squarespace. I've browsed through recommendations on web development forums before, and I know we often critique platforms like Squarespace, but I'm genuinely impressed by how quickly I can set up a small client site. The simplicity and intuitiveness of its UI is a huge plus for non-tech clients. Unlike WordPress, which often requires me to create tutorials just to help clients keep their content fresh, I'm seeking something less intensive. I've already tried platforms like Webflow, Wix, Weebly, various WordPress builders, and even Drupal, among others, but I really prefer self-hosted solutions so that I can manage the hosting myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If your client insists on using Squarespace, why not just go with it? For self-hosted options, I usually recommend Joomla, WordPress, or Statamic based on what the client is looking for and their budget. Some clients prefer using Squarespace or Wix, and it's important for me to focus on solving their needs without judging their choices. You can easily customize the backend for any self-hosted CMS to make it user-friendly for your clients. Both WP and Joomla allow significant customization. Joomla even has a built-in Guided Tour feature that walks users through the interface, which is pretty cool. Statamic is built on Laravel, so if you're comfortable with code, it's a solid choice. Drupal isn't my favorite, but if your clients like it, it might be worth exploring.

I haven't explored Statamic, and it's been years since I've worked with Joomla. Maybe it's time for a revisit?
