I'm currently using an Asrock B550M Riptide and it's performed flawlessly over the past three years. I'm looking to build a new PC later this year with either a 7800X3D or a 9800X3D. However, I've been hearing about CPU burn issues related to Asrock motherboards, even after they released a BIOS update. Should I really steer clear of Asrock boards for my new build, or am I just being overly cautious? Are there any BIOS tweaks to mitigate these risks?

While it probably won't be an issue, you can always play it safe. There are plenty of good alternatives out there. Remember, specific models can vary a lot; one generation might be great, and the next could be a dud.
I definitely think you should avoid Asrock, especially if you're considering the 9800X3D. Why take a chance? There are safer alternatives like MSI or Gigabyte that won't put you at risk. Asrock doesn't really offer any extra features that make it worth the gamble.
But honestly, those $120 open box B650i deals are tempting! All the other ITX boards are way over $200, even refurbished.
I think the first-gen AM5 Asrock boards with a 7800X3D should be fine, but the second-gen boards with the 9800X3D might be where problems arise.
If you're worried enough to ask, I'd suggest going with a different motherboard. I had an Asrock board that failed and ruined my 9800X3D after just seven months. You don't want to end up regretting this choice!
I just went with the MSI PRO X870-P WIFI, and it's a great choice at $250. It has three NVME slots, and if you're okay without built-in RGB, it's solid!
