What are some good Linux-compatible laptops instead of the Surface 7?

I'm in the market for a new laptop after using my MacBook for about ten years. While I've appreciated Apple's design, I've begun prioritizing security and supporting open-source projects. I recently bought a Google Pixel to install Graphene OS. The Surface 7 laptop caught my eye, but I learned that its ARM chip makes it tough to run Linux on it. I'm not concerned about the price—what I'm looking for are solid specs for music creation, a bit of light gaming, and general productivity. I loved the sleek aluminum design of the Surface 7, but I'm unsure about my options now. Any suggestions?

Have you checked out Slimbooks? They might be a good alternative. They're designed with Linux in mind, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue. Just be sure to read up on user experiences when choosing a specific model!

I would steer clear of ARM chips for now. They have potential, but Linux support is pretty lacking. Also, check the WiFi card in any laptop you're considering, since some don't support Linux very well. Intel cards are generally a safe bet. Ideally, go for at least 16GB RAM and a recent Intel CPU for good performance. System76, Framework, and Lenovo options have great support too. Just do a bit of research on user experiences with the model you're eyeing to avoid potential issues!

Also, if you still have your Intel-based MacBook, you could consider installing Linux on that instead!
