My Son Downloaded Something Sketchy—Should We Be Concerned?

Hey everyone,

I'm reaching out because my son accidentally downloaded a program while trying to play "The Isle," and it caused his computer to restart quickly with a command prompt popping up. He was really shaken up, and honestly, so was I! I took a look at his PC and everything seems normal on my end. I also ran a full scan with Avast, and it didn't find anything. Is there anything we should be worried about? Should I take any further action?

Make sure to check his browser history to see where he downloaded the program from. If it’s from an official page, it might not be as troublesome. Just keep an eye on things and double-check everything!

You should definitely run Malwarebytes. If you're unsure, a lot of people trust it more than Avast for detecting malware. The fast restart could be a sign that something’s off, so let’s not take any chances!

Totally agree with MBAM! It’s saved my skin so many times. Just combine it with Windows Defender for an extra layer of safety.

You might consider running a few scans with different tools like ADWCleaner and Roguekiller, too. Just to be safe! Sometimes a restart can be a red flag, so it’s better to have multiple antivirus programs check it out.

If you're really concerned, just reinstall Windows. It sounds drastic, but it ensures everything is clean. Just make sure to back up the files first!

Or unplug the internet first, back things up, and then go through a fresh install. Being cautious is the best route here.
