Help! My PC Keeps Blacking Out During Certain Games

Hey everyone! I've been struggling with an annoying issue with my PC for almost a year now, and I'm really hoping to get some insight on what's going wrong. Whenever I'm gaming, my screen randomly goes black. I can still hear my friends talking on Discord, but they can't hear me anymore, and it cuts off my game audio. The only option I have left is to shut down my PC completely. This happens mainly with specific games. For example, it rarely happens when I play Valorant, but during games like Expedition 33, it often triggers, especially in cutscenes. Even with Roblox, while it seems to run fine most of the time, I experience black screens in certain games within it that aren't graphically intensive, which confuses me.

I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps, including:
- Updating my GPU using GeForce Experience
- Using DDU
- Removing and reconnecting my GPU
- Adjusting the temp limit with MSI Afterburner to 90
- Testing with a different monitor

My brother thinks the power supply might be the culprit, but we don't have the model information since I lost the box when my dad got it built for me. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

It sounds frustrating! Given that it happens mainly during specific games and not others, it might be a heat issue or possibly something to do with the power supply like your brother suggested. Have you tried monitoring the temperatures while gaming? If they're too high, that could trigger shutdowns. Also, if possible, try running a power supply test or switching it out temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

I haven’t done temperature monitoring yet. That sounds like a good idea though! I'll definitely check if that’s the issue.

First off, can you share the full specs of your PC? That'll help narrow things down. Also, make sure you check if your drivers are fully updated and that your GPU is seated correctly. Sometimes, performance issues can pop up if the hardware isn't installed just right. If you have a power supply issue, it might not provide enough power during heavier loads.

Sure! Here are my specs:
- GPU: RTX 3060 Ti
- CPU: i5-12600K
- Storage: 1TB SSD, 1TB HDD
- RAM: 16GB

Also, I'm running Windows 11 if that helps!
