Hey everyone! I recently bought a domain from GoDaddy for my freelance business, thinking it was a reputable choice. However, I've realized they're pushing me to use their AI site builder, which is not something I want at all. I was hoping to create my portfolio site by myself using VSCode and GitHub. After some research, I've found that GoDaddy might not be the best option for domain registration. Is there a way for me to keep the domain I bought but still create my own site? I'm looking for customizability and really don't want to use their AI service.

Sounds like GoDaddy is trying to upsell you on their AI features, but you can definitely opt-out. If you want to, consider transferring your domain to another registrar; GoDaddy’s not everyone’s favorite. Just make sure you’re not paying them for additional services you don’t want.
You’re not forced to use the AI builder at all! If you own the domain, just build your own site and redirect it to that domain. You might want to consider using a platform like Netlify to deploy your site and manage nameservers there. It's pretty straightforward!
Yeah, transferring can be a hassle, but it might save you money in the long run. You’ll need to check if there's a fee, which I think is usually just the cost of another year’s registration.
