Can Safari Page Previews Infected My iPad with a Virus?

I was researching flags of nations that no longer exist and accidentally hovered over a fanmade flag while looking at images. This caused a link preview to pop up, and I panicked when I saw that the URL was flagged as malicious by Seclookup when I checked it with VirusTotal. I'm really worried—could my iPad or Safari browser get infected just from viewing this link preview?

Nope, you should be fine. Macs and iPads aren't as prone to viruses like Windows devices are, so there's a very low chance that just viewing a link preview would lead to infection.

If you're feeling uneasy, it's understandable! Just keep in mind that seeing a link preview doesn't directly infect your device. But if you're still worried about malware, consider checking out a malware guide from a trusted source.

I get where you're coming from! Just make sure your iPad is updated and use trusted sites. If it was just a preview, you likely have nothing to worry about. Just stay cautious!
