I've got this extension on my Google Chrome called GalacticMetrus that I can't seem to get rid of. Every time I try to delete or disable it, I just can't—there's a message saying it can "Read and change all your data on all websites / Manage your apps, extensions, and themes." I've tried looking it up, but nothing significant pops up, although I've seen some warnings that say extensions with names like this tend to be malware. Also, for some reason, my browser keeps redirecting me to Yahoo or Yandex, even though I've set Google Chrome as my default browser. I've done a security check on my laptop, and it says everything's fine. Could this be a virus, or is it something that actually comes from Google?

It sounds like you've got some unwanted software going on! I'd definitely recommend running a scan with AdwCleaner. Sometimes, just clearing out your browser data and doing a full uninstall of Chrome, then reinstalling can help. Just be sure to reboot your computer in between to really wipe any remnants.
When you check the extensions, does it mention 'managed by your organization'? That usually means something fishy is going on. If it says that, you might want to look into how to regain control of your Chrome settings. It's definitely not normal for it to keep defaulting to Yahoo or Yandex.
Just so you know, Chrome is your browser, but it seems like Yandex or Yahoo are just set as your search engines. You can switch it back to Google in the settings once you tackle that GalacticMetrus extension first. Good luck!

Yes, it does say that!
