Could My Device Be Hacked After Receiving a Strange Message?

So, a couple of days ago, I got a message saying "HI" from a number that was really similar to my Telegram number, just with a few digits different. The weirdest part? The account had my name on it! I never replied and just blocked the account. I'm really confused about how this happened since I didn't use a username and my Telegram name was just some random game name. I thought all my privacy settings were good, so how did this person get my number and name? I recently created the account and haven't chatted with anyone, but I did check out some random groups and used a couple of bots. Could my device be hacked?

Based on what you shared, it doesn't seem like you've been hacked. It's possible to get a similar number, and if the account name is random, it could just be a coincidence. But do keep an eye on any files in your downloads just in case. If you haven't clicked any links or downloaded anything suspicious, you're probably safe.

I agree with the last point! Just because someone sends a message doesn’t mean you’re compromised. Maybe check your device to ensure you haven't unintentionally downloaded anything. Double-check your downloads folder just to be sure. But if you're using a VPN and reliable antivirus, your chances of being hacked are low.
