I'm currently working at a medium-sized nonprofit and I'm collaborating with HR to better define my role. I'm curious if anyone has been in a similar situation and can offer guidance on how to identify my job title and responsibilities. To break it down, I feel like I'm functioning as about a third SysAdmin, a third Data Analyst, and a third Business Analyst. Here's what I do:
**SysAdmin Tasks:**
- Manage the relationship with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) and hold them accountable to their contract.
- Make decisions regarding infrastructure upgrades and changes.
- Act as domain admin handling user creation and security profiles.
- Oversee procurement and replacement schedules for workstations.
- Administer our Dynamics ERP system, including user permissions.
- Manage our Salesforce account, including user and licensing management.
- Administer various SaaS tools.
- Serve as helpdesk support for anything tech-related.
**Analytics Responsibilities:**
- Maintain the ETL process for our data warehouse.
- Perform light data engineering and write SQL queries for reports.
- Administer Tableau Cloud and develop custom dashboards and reports.
- Conduct ad hoc analytics for special projects.
**Business Analyst Duties:**
- Collaborate with team leaders to identify issues and develop streamlined processes.
- Create and report on metrics for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain board metrics and dashboards.
- Gather requirements and map out processes, often leading to app development using PowerAutomate or Salesforce.
Any insights on what I should consider for my job title or description would be greatly appreciated!

I think you should tailor a title that HR can easily understand. Since you're covering a lot of IT ground, something straightforward like 'IT Manager' could work. But make sure it aligns with the actual job descriptions around your area, to help with compensation discussions later on!
Forget ego and focus on a title that reflects your actual work while also being appealing for potential compensation. Look for titles that mirror what you do but have higher pay averages in your job market. It’s a great chance to get what you deserve!
Solid advice! Besides checking job sites like Indeed or LinkedIn, any suggestions on where to find relevant compensation data?

Haha, true! But you're right, the title has to work for the HR side too since they might use it for salary studies. It’s all about making sure they see your value!
