Good morning, everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my starter PC, which I received as a birthday gift last July. It's been running pretty well, but I want to step up my game since I can't stream while playing Marvel Rivals, and streaming is one of my main goals with this setup.
Here's what I'm currently working with:
- CPU: Intel i7-4770 (used)
- GPU: Rx 580 8GB (used)
- RAM: 16GB DDR3 (1600MHz, new)
- Storage: 512GB SSD (new)
- PSU: 500W (new)
- Motherboard: Machinist H81m-pro (new)
For benchmarks at 1080p:
- Fortnite (Pro settings): 158fps avg
- R6 Siege (Competitive settings): 213fps avg
- Valorant (Competitive settings): 199fps avg
- Overwatch (Medium settings): 173fps avg
- GTA V (Very high settings): 78fps avg
- Apex Legends (Medium-high settings): 94fps avg
I have about $1,200 to spend on upgrades. What's the best thing to focus on replacing? I've mainly been a console player for most of my life, and this PC gaming world is pretty new to me. I was considering a GeForce RTX 3060, but I've seen mixed opinions on it. Would love some honest advice! Thanks!

Your current setup has some parts that are over 10 years old, especially the motherboard, which is a dead-end platform. If you want to stay current, you might need a whole new build. However, since you’re not playing super demanding games, another option could be to look at older parts to save money. Building a system with newer components will cost more but it’ll give you peace of mind with warranties and modern performance.
