I'm trying to decide between the Ryzen 9600X and the Intel 14600K for running Fortnite at 240fps on 1080p. I already have a 7800XT graphics card and I'm planning to keep this PC for 3-5 years without any upgrades, so upgradability isn't a big concern for me. I'm leaning towards the 9600X since it's a bit pricier, but I'm unsure if it's worth it compared to the 14600K. Which one would give me the best performance in this case?

If you're looking for performance, the Intel 14600K has the edge and can deliver about 20-25% better performance at times. Plus, if you can find the KF model, it’s usually cheaper since it lacks integrated graphics. To save some cash, consider getting a DDR4 motherboard and RAM; waiting for DDR5 might be worth it in terms of price down the road since you won't be upgrading for a while. Just keep in mind, in gaming they tend to perform similarly overall, so checking benchmarks helps too!
Solid advice! It’s good to weigh all your options, especially if you're not planning to upgrade.
The Ryzen 9600X is a solid choice if you consider future upgrades. It’s worthwhile because you’ll have options to switch to something better down the line. If you can, check out the Ryzen 5 7600X instead, as it also sets you up for potential future upgrades, especially if AMD releases more powerful chips for AM5. It might be a little smarter long-term.
Yeah, I like how Ryzen is focusing on future-proofing with their new CPUs.
Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely check out those benchmarks.
