Hey everyone, I'm looking for help with renaming all our SharePoint site URLs to reflect our new company name. If you have any scripts or documentation that walks through this process, I'd really appreciate it!

I’ve done this for a couple of tenants and it was pretty straightforward. The old SharePoint URL automatically redirects to the new one, so there’s really nothing to worry about. Good luck!

Remember these two important points: First, when you rename your SharePoint domain, a redirect is created at the previous address, but it only lasts for a year. Second, you can only rename your SharePoint domain once without submitting a support request to do it again. Just something to keep in mind!

Check out this article on changing your SharePoint domain name: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/change-your-sharepoint-domain-name. Just be cautious about the risks, as this can affect team sites and OneDrive shared links. We decided against it due to potential business impact, so tread carefully!

Absolutely, changing the SharePoint name can lead to significant issues, as it's tightly integrated within the O365 structure and could cause damage if not handled correctly.

Just a heads-up, if you’re in a government tenant like GCC or GCC-High, you won’t be able to change the domain name for SharePoint. It’s pretty frustrating!

The process might vary, but it usually involves using scripts provided by Microsoft. Make sure to have a backup plan just in case things don’t go smoothly!
