Hey everyone! I'm looking to learn Python and SQL as I'm hoping to enhance my skills for my job. I have no prior programming experience, and I work as a field engineer in the Upstream Oil & Gas sector, where I often deal with large sets of data. I would love some advice on where to begin—is it essential for me to enroll in a beginner's course, or can I get by with YouTube tutorials? If you recommend specific channels for beginners, I'd appreciate it! Also, how long do you think it might take to acquire some basic skills? Thanks for your help!

You might also want to check out YouTube tutorials. Channels like Corey Schafer or freeCodeCamp have great beginner content on Python. They can really help you grasp the concepts without diving too deep into theory.

A great starting point for someone in your position is the MOOC from the University of Helsinki, called Python Programming 2025. It's free and has helped me a lot as a non-IT person. You should definitely give it a shot!
