Why Does My PC Keep Crashing When I Play Games?

I'm experiencing some frustrating crashes on my PC while gaming. I have a Ryzen 5 8600G and one stick of 16GB 5200MHz RAM. It runs games like Fortnite, Genshin Impact, and Fall Guys just fine, but then suddenly, the whole system crashes and restarts. I suspect the issue may be linked to RAM or GPU usage. When my GPU hits 100%, I only see a drop in FPS, but the entire PC crashing seems too extreme for that. I'm also not convinced it's the power supply's fault, but I'm open to testing it out. Any ideas on what could be going wrong?

What power supply are you using? The 8600G is pretty low on power needs, so if your PSU is decent, it shouldn’t be the culprit. However, you should definitely run MemTest86 to check your RAM for defects—it can find issues that the Windows test might miss. I've noticed a big performance boost switching to dual-channel RAM, too, so consider getting another 16GB stick of 6000MHz if you can. Here's a good one on Newegg that could help!

I'm using an MSI 500W. I trust MSI's reputation, so I'm hoping that's not the problem. I know RAM can be pricey, especially DDR5, but I’m considering adding another 16GB stick. Appreciate the recommendation!

When your PC crashes like that, does it just shut off completely or reboot hard? A sudden reboot usually points toward a power supply issue. You might want to check that.

It just suddenly reboots in the middle of a game without any warning.
