My PC is slow and has strange startup entries—could it be a virus?

I've noticed that my PC has been running much slower than usual lately. When I checked the Task Manager under the Startup tab, I found some strange entries. One is named "1" and the other has a weird long GUID: A95216ad-0a16-4629-881d-2ed1f0eb3235. Both are currently disabled, but they look suspicious since I don't remember installing anything that would create these. My OS is either Windows 10 or Windows 11, and I'm experiencing symptoms like laggy apps and loud fans. I haven't removed the entries yet.

I'm wondering:
1. Are these just remnants from uninstalled apps or could they indicate malware?
2. Should I remove them from the registry?
3. What's the best way to check if my system is clean?
4. Can anyone recommend a good cleanup app or tool?

I haven't had a PC in a long time, so I'm trying to be careful and not risk losing my data unless absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance for any help!

Those startup entries are often just bugs from certain applications, particularly from Steam games. The "1" entry usually indicates the number of startup instances, while the GUID is likely just an ID specific to your computer. As for the loud fans, it's usually a sign that something is overheating, potentially because of high CPU or GPU usage or maybe an issue with thermal paste or coolers causing throttling. It might be worthwhile to check your thermal paste if your PC is only 4-5 months old—those issues shouldn’t be common but can happen!

I actually slowed down the clock speed in my BIOS to better align with my hardware, but now my fan seems to be running slower than it should. Could it still be overheating, or is it possibly just a fan curve issue? Also, thanks for clarifying that the Steam entry is normal—relieved to know there isn't a virus! By the way, is there a way to fully clean that from the startup list even if it's disabled?
