Can My Mum’s Google Pixel 8 Be Repaired After a Drop?

My mum dropped her Google Pixel 8 this morning onto gravel, and now the screen is really messed up. One side is still displaying normally, but it's completely unresponsive to touch, while the other side has these weird green and pink graphic lines. I'm planning to take it to a phone shop tomorrow, but I wanted to check if anyone thinks it might be worth trying to fix it or if it's beyond saving?

It sounds like the screen is probably busted. They can definitely repair it, but if your mum needs access to it in the meantime, you could connect it to a monitor and use a keyboard and mouse to control it. That could help until it gets fixed.

A picture would be super helpful to get a better idea of the damage, especially if you're not sure what's going on inside. If you're having trouble uploading, maybe just describe the colors and lines a bit more!

This definitely sounds fixable, but it might require a new screen, which can be pricey. Check if your mum has insurance through her carrier; that could help cover some costs. Just keep in mind that there might be more damage that won’t be apparent until they take a closer look.
