Can I Keep the Name of My Old Game After Reacquiring the Domain?

Hey everyone! A while back, I created a text-based game that I sold during high school, and it started to gain some popularity. Over time, the game wasn't updated (I think the last update was in 2018), and eventually, the owner let the domain expire. Recently, I managed to get the domain back, and I'm planning to revamp the game while retaining the same name. I'm curious if there are any legal issues I should be aware of, considering we're not reusing any of the old content—just the name and the genre.

First things first, check your original contract. If you transferred all rights when you sold it, using the same name now could lead to legal trouble. It might be a good idea to consult a lawyer about this. If getting legal advice feels too costly, reevaluate whether it's even worth pursuing.

Ah, I sold it back in 2007, and I don't think I have a copy of the agreement anymore. Back then, I didn't really think about the legal stuff—just wanted to sell the game! Maybe I should try to find the old owner and ask them about it.
