Will KDE Plasma Run Smoothly on My Old PC Specs?

I'm considering installing Debian 13 with KDE Plasma, but I have some concerns about how it will perform on my current hardware. Here are my specs:
- Processor: Intel Celeron G1610 (2.60 GHz)
- Memory: 4 GB (DDR3)
- Storage: HDD
- GPU: Integrated (Intel HD Graphics 6EU, codenamed Ivy Bridge)

I've heard that KDE Plasma might struggle a bit with older GPUs and limited RAM. Would I likely run into any major issues?

You might face some challenges with that setup. The main concerns are your 4 GB of RAM and the HDD. KDE Plasma can be a bit resource-hungry, usually recommended with at least 8 GB of RAM for decent performance, and it typically uses around 1.5 GB just sitting idle. HDDs are also generally slower, which can affect overall responsiveness. Still, it's worth giving it a shot! If it crashes or is too slow, you could always switch to XFCE, which is lighter and can be customized to look pretty nice with some effort.

I read somewhere that KDE's memory usage has improved a lot recently, almost matching XFCE, especially with the latest updates. What do you think?
