I recently purchased an Acer Orion 7000 to avoid the hassle of building my own PC, but I'm starting to regret that choice. The main issue is with the Intel i9-14900KF CPU. Even in BIOS mode, I've noticed the CPU temperatures soaring to 95 degrees Celsius, and there aren't many options available to adjust the voltage settings. When I power on the PC, it becomes sluggish and unresponsive in about five minutes, making it difficult to configure anything. This overheating issue emerged after about five months of normal operation. I even sent the unit back to Acer under warranty, but they didn't seem to address the problem. I'm just looking for solutions to get my PC working properly again. Here are the specs: Intel Core i9-14900KF, Intel Z790, DDR5 32GB, and GeForce RTX 4080 Super with water cooling. Any assistance would be appreciated!

It sounds like your cooling system might be malfunctioning. If the pump isn't working properly, that could definitely cause your CPU to overheat during boot. It's also possible the cooler shifted during your move, leading to poor contact. Since you're seeing high temps even in BIOS, it's worth investigating the water pump or cooler setup further since Acer should have caught that during warranty service.
I bet the thermal paste might have degraded over time or wasn't applied correctly. Given that it was fine for a while, a reapplication might help. If you have some thermal paste lying around, it might be worth checking out. Just be sure to clean it well before applying new paste.
Thanks for the suggestion! I've never replaced thermal paste before, but I might give it a shot. Is it easy to do, or do I need to watch a guide?
That's what I was thinking! It was fine before I moved it, and the overheating started afterward. I guess I need to start checking the cooler connections and see if there's any visible damage.
