What should I do if someone created a Gmail account using my name and work email?

I'm really concerned because I just found out that someone created a Gmail account using my full name and birthday. They've set my work email as the recovery email address, and I received a notification about it from Google. I'm not sure who would do this or why, but it feels like a scam or someone with bad intentions. Is there any way to report this issue? What actions should I take to protect myself?

Wow, that's seriously creepy! Something similar happened to me where someone tried to use my email for a new account. I got a notification that they needed to set a password for it. I think it’s likely a password scam, so definitely be cautious. You should try to report it to Google immediately through their support page if you haven’t already. Also, change your passwords just in case!

That's strange! I clicked the link in one of those emails before, but it said my email was already removed. Could that be automated?

Definitely activate two-factor authentication (2FA) on your accounts. It's an excellent way to secure your info. Just make sure your phone number is set up correctly for the 2FA. It adds an extra layer of protection just in case they try anything else later on.

Is a phone number really secure enough? What if it gets compromised too?
