Hey everyone, I'm currently using a 2020/2021 mixed pre-built gaming system (HP Omen 30L GT13-0020ng) but it's really struggling with overheating issues and can't handle current games like Space Marine 2 anymore. I've tried upgrading to a Corsair 5000D case along with improved cooling systems, but I think the problem lies primarily with the motherboard, which is quite restrictive. I want to know what I need to upgrade—especially the motherboard, CPU, and possibly the GPU—to achieve 2K 144 FPS on high settings in new games.

What’s your budget looking like? Honestly, I’d suggest keeping the RTX 3080, it's still a solid card. You could upgrade to an AM5 setup, that should breathe some new life into your PC without breaking the bank.
Are you just trying to get better FPS or is the game unplayable for you right now? If it’s unplayable, it might just be a settings issue. For better FPS, consider upgrading the CPU, motherboard, and RAM (aim for AM5 with at least 8 cores). If there's a Micro Center nearby, they often have solid bundle deals.
A complete upgrade sounds like the right call for getting better performance, especially for Space Marine 2! Check out this parts list:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($359.00)
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM5 ($209.99)
- **Memory:** Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB DDR5-6000 ($79.99)
Total: **$648.98**. This upgrade will significantly boost your gaming experience!
How would that compare to a Ryzen 9950X3D? Would that be overkill for the rest of my setup?

Sky's the limit. I was looking at between 500 and 1500 euros tops. But the 3080 seems to be the bottleneck right now.
