Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a PC and could really use a sanity check on my setup. I've been collecting parts over time due to work and family commitments, and I recently treated myself to a B760 Tomahawk motherboard and an MSI Ventus 2x 8GB 4060 graphics card after getting a little bonus. I already have an Intel i5-12400F from an old build, and I'm wondering if using this CPU will bottleneck my system. Should I consider upgrading to an i7-12700K instead? I've used PC Part Picker to ensure compatibility, but I always second-guess whether I'm getting the best performance for my budget. Any advice would be super helpful! Also, I'm still debating on a case since I'm unsure about using RGB lighting.

The bottleneck really depends on what games you're playing, resolution, and settings. I'd suggest trying out the i5-12400F first to see how it handles your games. If you do find performance lacking, consider getting an Intel i5-14600K instead of the more expensive 12700K—it’ll probably give you better value for gaming with the 4060.
It sounds like you're in good shape! Just to clarify, did you already have a PC with the i5-12400F and then bought the B760 motherboard?
Yeah, I bought the motherboard a while back by accident when I was building a PC without a GPU—definitely clicked 'buy now' a bit too quickly!
Thanks for the recommendation! That makes a lot of sense.
