Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a frustrating question here. I built my PC with a powerful setup including an R7 5700X processor and a 4070 Super GPU. However, I've noticed that some games run better on my friend's build, which has a 4060 Ti and an R5 5600. Recently, I tested the new update for No Man's Sky, and while I expected to see high FPS, I was stuck around 68-90 FPS, whereas I've seen gameplay videos of the same setup reaching 120 FPS. I monitored the performance during gameplay and found both the GPU and CPU were only hitting around 30-40% usage. Shouldn't the GPU be closer to 100%? What could be causing this? Is it possible my motherboard (B450M Aorus Elite) is the issue since I had some artifacts with previous graphics cards? Thanks for any insights!

You might be experiencing some CPU bottlenecking. Even with a decent CPU like the R7 5700X, some games don't utilize all cores efficiently. No Man's Sky is known to prioritize CPU usage on fewer cores, so check per-core usage in task manager. If one core is maxed out while others are under 50%, that’s where your issue lies.
Don’t overlook the possibility of thermal throttling or power settings. Ensure your power plan is set to maximum performance in Windows and that your NVIDIA control settings are optimized for gaming performance. If your GPU isn't hitting its peak performance, it may be due to power settings limited to saving energy.
I think you should double-check your overall system settings. Sometimes FPS caps can be a hidden culprit—make sure V-Sync isn't turned on and that your refresh rate settings in Windows match your monitor's max. Also, check if you're running the game in borderless mode; switching to exclusive fullscreen can help too! It sounds like your hardware is solid, but if you’re hitting a limit because of settings, that could be the issue here.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely check those settings out.
