I've been using a gaming laptop (4800h/1660ti) since 2020, but it's really struggling with newer games. I want to build a PC that will last for the next 5 years, aiming for smooth gaming at 1440p without the need for ultra graphics. I've put together a list on PC Part Picker for my build, but I need some advice as it's been over 20 years since I last built a PC. I won't be including storage or a case since I plan to reuse my two 2TB Evo 970 NVME drives. I'm also considering whether to go with an AMD GPU, as the prices for the 5070ti and the 9070xt are almost equal. I'm leaning towards the AM5 socket for future expandability but would love to hear any thoughts or recommendations on my choices! Check out my PC part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dj3HyW

Everything in your build seems fine, but you might be overspending on the PSU and RAM by about $100-$120. Check to see if you can get similar quality for less!
You might want to swap the fans on your cooler eventually, as Thermalright's fan quality can be hit or miss. The AM5 socket is a smart choice for future upgrades! Plus, if you can wait a bit, new Nvidia "Super" versions are coming out that will have more VRAM, which might be worth considering.
Really good thoughts, thank you! I plan to keep this build for a long time and don't mind spending where it counts. By the way, I already have a MSI 27" 144hz QHD IPS monitor that I'm planning to reuse.
Are you suggesting it's a brand thing or just due to the capacity of the components?
