I'm looking to switch from Windows to Linux, and the only game I play on my laptop is The Sims 4. I really want to continue playing it at least until Paralives comes out. Besides gaming, I just need a basic text editor and a web browser, which I believe are included with most distros. My laptop is a 7-year-old Lenovo Yoga, and I'm not very experienced with coding. Can anyone recommend a Linux distribution that would work well for my needs? Thanks!

For something a bit more advanced, Fedora or Arch Linux could work if you're willing to invest some time upfront. But for everyday use, I’d stick with Debian-based distros like Ubuntu, which are stable and user-friendly—absolutely fine for desktop work!
Check out the migration info from the wiki! It's super helpful for switching to Linux. Just a tip: always use root access sparingly, avoid third-party repositories for safety, and make sure to verify your ISO checksums after downloading. Good luck with your transition!
If you want something a bit different, try Kubuntu. It's a solid choice with a nice interface.
You don't need a specific distro to run The Sims 4; I’d recommend going with Linux Mint. It's user-friendly, and you can easily install Steam and enable Proton in the Compatibility Settings to run your game smoothly.
Honestly, any Linux distro should do the job for your needs. Just pick one that you find appealing.
