I just upgraded my PC by installing an i7 14700K to replace my old i5, and I added a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black CPU cooler. My PC was pretty quiet before this upgrade, but now the CPU cooler fan is super loud when I boot it up. Is this noise a permanent issue, or can I fix it through the BIOS settings? My motherboard is an Asus Prime B660M-A. Would using an app like FanControl help? Thanks for any advice!

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 is a bit on the lower end, so it's really struggling to handle the heat from the power-hungry 14700K. That's why the fan is running at full speed and still sounding loud.
Just to check, did you remember to remove the protective plastic from the bottom of the cooler before installing it? And did you apply thermal paste properly?
Yeah, I took out the plastic and applied thermal paste, but I took a while with the backplate installation, so it was sitting with the paste on it for a few minutes. What cooler should I get instead?
