Upgrading from a GTX 1060: Which GPU Should I Buy for 1080p Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm finally saying goodbye to my trusty GTX 1060 6GB, as NVIDIA is ending driver support for it. It's served me well, but I'm in the market for a new GPU that can keep up with my gaming needs. I primarily play at 1080p, aiming for 120-144Hz on high to ultra settings. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and 64GB of DDR4-3600 RAM. The main games I play are Helldivers 2 and Minecraft with heavy shaders, and while my 1060 manages about 60fps, I'd rather not have to lower settings anymore. I'm looking to spend around £250-300, but I can stretch to £350 if the performance boost is significant. Would love to hear your recommendations on what to get, especially since I'm considering both cheaper 40-series and the RX 9060 lineup!

I’d suggest looking at the Intel Battlemage B580; it’s a solid option for the price! But keep in mind that Intel's making GPUs now is news to a lot of people!

Wait, Intel makes GPUs? That's new to me!

Your 5700X3D can pair well with almost any GPU, including up to the 4080 if you want to go high-end. If you want the latest features, consider a 5060. If you’re feeling adventurous, the B580 is another choice, and the RX 9060XT could be a great value if the price is right. Also, don’t forget to check for used 3080s; they could offer a lot of performance for the money!

Is 8GB VRAM still enough for gaming these days? I’ve heard it’s becoming a concern.
