Got a Scary Message from a Sketchy Website – Is My iPhone at Risk?

Hey everyone, I need some help! I was browsing a sketchy website out of curiosity when I accidentally clicked on a link that led me to a new tab. This tab showed a message claiming "Your phone now has a virus with adult websites" and it asked for permission to use my camera, which I couldn't cancel. I panicked and quickly closed Safari and cleared out my tabs. Does anyone know if this is a real virus or just a scare tactic? I'm really anxious about this sort of thing!

Don’t worry, you’re totally fine! What you encountered is usually known as scareware — it's designed to frighten you into thinking you have a virus. Just closing the tab should do the trick. If you're still worried, make sure your iPhone is updated, and you can always run a security check just to be safe.

Yeah, I agree with TechWizard49. Those pop-ups are meant to scare you. Just try to avoid those kinds of sites in the future. You did the right thing by closing Safari. Just keep your phone's software up to date, and you'll be good!
