Should I Upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D for Better FPS in Battlefield 6?

I'm considering upgrading my Ryzen 7 5800X to a 5800X3D to achieve more stable 120 FPS in Battlefield 6. I've got a 4070 Ti and during the Open Beta, I managed to lock in between 100 to 120 FPS at 1440p using DLSS Quality and Frame Generation 2x. The upgrade would cost me about $280, but I'm wondering if it's worth it or if I should save up for a better combo in the future, especially with AM6 on the horizon. What do you all think?

Upgrading to the 5800X3D seems like a pointless move unless you are getting it for a really low price. You're mainly getting lower memory latency and not much else. If you have a Microcenter near you, consider bundles like the Ryzen 5 9600X instead. It’s more efficient and prepares you for the AM5 upgrades.

True! And actually, the 7600X3D bundle is even better at Microcenter—better motherboard and double the RAM compared to what you're getting.

The $280 for a 5800X3D seems fair, but if you can bare the extra costs, look towards AM5. A 7800X3D and a decent motherboard will not only give you a better performance lift but also future-proof you for upcoming upgrades.

Make sure you check your current setup! If your RAM isn’t configured properly, it could be bottlenecking your FPS. You shouldn’t need frame generation to hit those numbers with a 5800X, but everything needs to be set up right for peak performance.

Yes, I have XMP enabled and running in dual channel, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Honestly, waiting for AM5 seems smart. The new chips are going to be better long-term. The 5800X3D is a decent chip, but with future tech coming, you're better off putting your money into something that’ll last.

I think it's better to save your cash for a bigger upgrade down the line, like going for a 7800X3D. The gains from the 5800X3D are minimal compared to what you would get with a full AM5 setup.

Exactly! The 5800X3D can improve your FPS and lows a bit, but the price hike makes it a tough sell unless you find a super deal.

Have you checked if the FPS issues might be from something else? With a 7600 and a 5070, I hit 120-150 FPS without fancy tech like frame generation or DLSS. Sometimes it’s more about optimizing your settings than upgrading hardware.

You might have a point there! It's often the case that tweaking settings can yield better results than just switching out CPUs.
