I recently bought a Dell Optiplex 3020 from a school surplus auction. When I powered it up at home, I was greeted with a BitLocker recovery screen asking for a recovery key, which I don't have. I'm wondering what my options are here. I managed to access the BIOS and boot settings by pressing F2 and F12 at startup, but I'm not sure what to do next to make this computer usable. Can someone help me figure out how to get past this?

You could try booting from a Windows installer USB to wipe and format the drive, then reinstall Windows. It’s pretty straightforward.
If you don’t have the recovery key, unfortunately, you’ll need to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS, because you can't access any data without that key.
Honestly, formatting is your best bet. Make sure you can boot from the USB that contains the Windows installer, and double-check if there's a BIOS password blocking you from making adjustments. If that’s the case, you might need to look into how to clear it.
Looks like you’ll have to clean install Windows. Just download the appropriate version from Microsoft, create a bootable USB, and during installation, delete all partitions on the drive. Just make sure the computer isn’t still linked to the school's MDM system; otherwise, it might not work even after you reinstall.
The quickest fix is to do a clean install of Windows from a USB drive. Once that’s done, you should be good to go.
