I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU to an RX 9070 XT, but I'm concerned because my current CPU and motherboard are a bit outdated. Right now, I'm using a Ryzen 5 5500 with 16GB of 3200MHz RAM, an ASROCK B450M Steel Legend motherboard, and a 750W Corsair PSU. My current GPU is the RX 6700 XT. I love playing AAA games, but I sometimes struggle to hit 60fps in certain titles, especially those using the Unreal Engine 5, even at 1080p. I'm wondering if it's better to upgrade my CPU and motherboard first or if I should just go for the RX 9070 XT first. I've got my eye on the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor but I'm not sure if it's worth the investment since I primarily use my setup for gaming. What do you suggest for a budget-friendly AM5 upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I think getting the 9800X3D would be overkill for you, especially if you're not doing any productivity work. It’s better to save that cash for a better GPU since your CPU and RAM are decent enough for gaming. Besides, with your current setup, it would really be a waste to pair an expensive CPU with a lower-tier GPU like the 6700 XT. Just go for the 9070 XT and you should see a nice performance boost.

That’s a good point! I guess sticking with my current CPU for now and upgrading the GPU makes more sense.
