Hey everyone! I'm super excited to build my first PC, but before I dive in and buy the parts, I'd love your opinions on my selections. I want to make sure I can play games like Cyberpunk and Overwatch, as well as some cozy mods for Minecraft. Additionally, I need it to handle schoolwork and video editing.
I've come up with two lists: one with all-white parts since that's my dream aesthetic, and another with all-black parts. I get that some components can be tough to find or a bit pricey, but I'm open to mixing colors if it means better performance! I'd like to keep my budget around $1,400 but can stretch to $1,500 if needed.

Your all-black build uses AM4 while the white one is AM5. I switched from AM4 to AM5 this year and I love it! Keep in mind that the RX 6600 has only 8GB of VRAM, which could struggle with AAA titles like Cyberpunk. Consider pairing a Ryzen 7600x with a good 16GB GPU instead to save some cash. You don't really need 64GB of RAM unless you’re doing really heavy editing.
If you’re aiming for performance, I suggest sticking to 2 sticks of RAM on AM5, ideally 32 GB if you're doing gaming and editing. Check out this build for a solid upgrade: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Zsc3TM. It’s significantly faster than what you currently have in mind for both gaming and productivity!
Woah thank you so much!! This helps a lot!
For your first build, I’d recommend going with AM5 instead of AM4. Also, it’s generally better to use 2x32GB sticks of RAM instead of 4x16GB unless you absolutely need over 128GB. You could check out this combo for an all-white build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/T32ggn, which includes a great CPU and GPU setup. It’ll be fast for gaming and editing! Just focus on two RAM sticks for the best performance.
Thank you!! I will definitely change that!
Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll switch to AM5!
