Is it better to use 16GB of faster RAM or 32GB of slower RAM?

I have two RAM sticks at 1666 MHz and another two at 1333 MHz. Would it be more beneficial to use all four sticks for a total of 32GB, or should I just stick with the two 1666 MHz sticks? I mainly use my PC for gaming, some basic Excel work, and I plan to do some 3D printing later on.

Just keep in mind that using four sticks can slow down everything to 1333 MHz. But honestly, you might not notice a big difference in performance between 1333 and 1666 MHz. If 32GB is supported, go for it!

It really depends on what you need more—speed or capacity. Having 32GB is a big plus for future-proofing, especially for gaming in 2025. So I’d recommend going for all 32GB! Plus, it might help in multitasking.

If you do switch to 32GB, consider overclocking. Sometimes you can stabilize four sticks at a higher speed, like 1600 MHz, which could be beneficial!

You can test the difference yourself! Run some benchmarks on your games with just the 16GB at 1666 MHz, then try adding the 1333 MHz sticks and see if there's a noticeable difference. It's a good way to figure it out! Also, just to make sure, does your CPU support 32GB?

From what I know, memory operates at the speed of the slowest stick. So if you use both sets, your 32GB will run at 1333 MHz, which might not give you the best performance. If you don’t need the extra capacity, I’d suggest sticking with the 16GB at 1666 MHz for better overall performance.
