I'm experiencing crashes while playing the Oblivion Remaster, with an error suggesting I've run out of VRAM during loading. I've done some research and it seems like this is linked to issues with the Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs. I've already updated my BIOS and tried underclocking the CPU, but nothing has helped. I'm worried my 13700KF might be failing. I've heard that the 14900KF could be a suitable upgrade since it might not have the same defects. However, I'm not very tech-savvy, and I'd like to resolve this problem before it gets worse. What do you think?

Honestly, if your 13700KF is already experiencing degradation, just getting another 13th or 14th gen CPU might not be the best choice. Instead, consider going for a 12th gen CPU like the 12600K, which performs great and avoids these newer issues altogether.
Have you considered the RMA option? Intel has extended the warranty for these CPUs due to the known issues, so you might be able to get a replacement or a refund. This would be the ideal route instead of investing in a new chip that might also have problems.
Totally agree! I went through the RMA process myself and it was a hassle, but I ended up with a full refund. It’s definitely worth trying!
Before jumping straight to the 14900KF, you should check if the crashes are definitely CPU related and not something else, like your GPU. If you have an MSI GeForce RTX 4090, it should handle games well, but it's still good to confirm that the issue isn't with your GPU.
Yeah, it might be worth checking other games to see if they crash too. Oblivion Remaster is known for bugs right now, so it might not be just your hardware.
If you’re set on getting a new CPU, look into AMD’s latest x3d chips. They could provide better performance without the temperature and stability problems seen in the 14th gen Intel CPUs, but keep in mind that you'd have to switch motherboards.
I’d rather not change my motherboard though. Mine only supports Intel's 10th to 14th gen chips, so I’d prefer to stay within that range.
Yeah, I upgraded from a 12600KF to a 14700K just because of a gift card, but I haven’t overclocked it much due to fear of potential issues.
