I recently moved into the campus housing at Arts University Bournemouth and I've hit a major snag with the internet. While I'm able to play games like Roblox and Minecraft just fine, I'm running into issues when trying to connect to Valorant or Fortnite. I keep getting the error message 'could not find a connection.' It seems like the university has restricted VPN ports, and although I'm using port 443, it's still not allowing me to connect to these games through the VPN. On top of that, I tried to use the ethernet port in my room for a more stable connection, but the service desk informed me that they have it disabled for now, and I'll have to rely on Wi-Fi, which is frustrating. I really think it's odd that they don't allow gaming in a place we're paying to live in. If anyone has any suggestions for workarounds, I'd greatly appreciate it!

My college uses Fortinet protection, which blocks most VPN protocols—even Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1. The most reliable options to bypass this are XLSS+ REALITY or VLSS. If you’re looking for free services, you can try VPNjantit or Arot.tech i can't find any other free services as other have high ping issues
Have you checked if your university's terms allow you any rights to the Wi-Fi access? If you included internet in your rent, it might be worth looking into those terms. If they control what you can access, it's a total bummer but probably legal. You could consider setting up your own internet connection if that’s possible, though it sounds like you're not sure how that would work without a port to plug into. Maybe try discussing the situation with your flatmates; they might have ideas or some equipment to share!
Honestly, it’s their network, their rules, so you’re a bit stuck. But if you need a stable connection, maybe check if other students have found creative ways to play without triggering the network blocks. Sometimes using mobile hotspots works if your data plan allows it!

Yeah, the internet's included in my rent, but I get that they can enforce their rules. I wasn't sure I could set up my own connection since it seems restricted here.
