How Can I Get Started with SDR Radio on Linux?

Asked By QuirkyPenguin42 On

I'm new to Linux and have recently converted a couple of old laptops to run on it. I'm interested in learning about Software-Defined Radio (SDR), like using my computer as a police scanner. Having spent over 35 years in public safety, I think this would be an interesting project. I'd appreciate any help or tips you could provide to get started!

If you're looking to dive into SDR, Dragon OS is a great choice! It's specifically tailored for SDR use, so you'll find all the tools you need right there. Give it a shot!

Tell me more, what features does it have?

I recommend trying Pentoo. It's a live distro that comes packed with various SDR packages. Just plug in your antenna and you should be all set! It's pretty user-friendly too.
