Why Is My Download Speed So Slow After Installing a New SSD?

Hey everyone! I recently added a Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB to my setup and did a fresh install of Windows, so it's basically a clean slate for my PC. However, I've noticed that my download speeds have dropped significantly. For example, downloading a 30GB game used to take about 15-20 minutes, but now it's taking over an hour and a half, even when downloading to my existing SSD (a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB). Did I forget to install something important or miss any setup steps? I'm a bit of a novice with this stuff despite having built a few PCs before, so any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might have missed installing some drivers, particularly for your LAN or Wi-Fi. Sometimes, after a new motherboard install, you have to download those drivers manually if they're not included with Windows.

That makes sense! I did manually download the chipset drivers, but I thought Windows would handle the Wi-Fi ones. I’ll check that!

Also, don't forget to check if your SSDs are properly set up in the BIOS. Sometimes, boot settings can affect performance, especially after adding new hardware.

Good idea! I'll dive into the BIOS and check the settings after I see if the drivers are the issue.
