Hey everyone! I'm curious if my laptop can handle dual booting Windows 10 and Linux. Here's what I'm working with: Intel Core i5 10300h CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti, 16 GB DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD from Kioxia. Are there any specific requirements or anything else I need to consider to get this set up? Thanks a ton for your help!

Yeah, your laptop should manage dual booting without any issues, as it can run either OS independently. Just remember to check your SSD for available space. Most Linux distributions like Ubuntu or Mint can guide you through the installation process. You might also want to deactivate fast startup in the UEFI and keep an eye on any drive encryption you have in Windows.

Thanks for the tips! I had wondered about the fast startup setting.

The main requirement for setting up a dual boot is having enough storage space on your SSD for both operating systems. Since your laptop has a 512GB SSD, you should be good to go, as long as you have some space left after installing Windows.

Your system specs are definitely more than capable of dual booting Windows and Linux! Just make sure you have enough free space; ideally, you’d allocate around 40-60 GB for Linux. If you're not using much data, you should have plenty of room on your 512GB SSD.
