I just received my new Gigabyte A520 AORUS ELITE motherboard, but the box it came in was really damaged. They didn't package it properly at all – just slapped a sticker on the box and sent it out. The box looks like it was thrown around and it doesn't even have a safety lock, so it could easily have opened during shipping. While the board itself was still sealed with some tape, it looks like it might have been tampered with before. When I opened the package, I found a minor scratch on one of the heatsinks. I'm really concerned about whether the motherboard might be damaged too, but returning it seems like such a hassle and I can't test it right now. Since I bought it new, I feel a bit ripped off, but since it was sold by Amazon and shipped by Gigabyte, I doubt I was actually scammed.

I’d say the box damage doesn’t guarantee motherboard damage, especially since it was sealed. Just be careful during setup, and if anything seems off, don’t hesitate to return it.
It sounds like a rough situation! Since the board is still sealed, there's a chance it’s okay, but that scratch is concerning. It might be worth trying it out if you can and see if it posts. If there are issues, you’ll want to document everything for the return. Good luck!
Totally agree! If it boots up fine, you might be in the clear. Just keep an eye on it for any weird behavior.

Thanks for the reassurance! I’ll keep a close watch on it during setup.
