Hey everyone! So today, I scanned a QR code from a work email my partner received. They couldn't scan it themselves on their phone, and I didn't think much of it at the time. However, once I scanned it (I was using Safari on my iPhone), I got a page saying it couldn't establish a secure connection, and the URL looked sketchy, so I quickly closed the page. I don't think anything loaded fully, but I'm a bit on edge now. Here's what I've done so far to check if I'm okay: I deleted my browser history, looked through my downloads (nothing new there), and checked my apps (everything seems normal, no unknown ones). My partner insists that iOS and Safari are pretty secure and I didn't enter any personal info, but I just want to be extra cautious. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks! Malicious QR codes usually just lead you to a harmful website. Unless you entered any personal info, the worst that might happen is they could install a cookie on your device—and it looks like you've cleared that out already. It's always best to avoid scanning random QR codes, even those on official signs, since people sometimes put stickers over them in public places. Stay safe!

It might have been a test from your partner’s employer to see if people would actually scan it. If that’s the case, they might have a word with your partner about it soon.
They contacted their company’s support service right away, and it turns out they weren’t aware of it. It's a good wake-up call for both of us to be more careful!
