Hey everyone! I've just started using Bazzite and I'm loving Linux so far. However, I'm struggling to find the right OBS settings for recording video that I can edit with the free version of Davinci Resolve on Linux. I've heard that some video encoders, like h.264, aren't supported due to licensing issues. I figured out that the audio encoder should be PCM, but I'm really confused about which recording format and video encoder to use. I prefer saving my recordings in .mkv to avoid any potential corruption if OBS crashes. Any advice on optimal settings would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

For the free version, I recommend using AV1 for video and PCM (16, 24, or 32-bit) for audio. These formats are fully supported, but keep in mind that AV1 is pretty heavy on compression. It's designed more for streaming than for editing. You might deal with performance issues on larger files, but if you create proxies in Davinci, that can help with editing performance, albeit with some time overhead.
I can share the supported codecs for the free version of Davinci Resolve on Linux. They have an official PDF with all the details, which can be super helpful. Just so you know, you might find yourself better suited to using Kdenlive if this gets too tricky!
Thanks for the PDF link! I might give Kdenlive a shot if I can't sort this out.
