I'm considering moving my LAMP project from shared hosting to CloudWays to avoid downtime issues and the hassle of managing infrastructure. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used it—what's your experience been like?

I wouldn't recommend CloudWays based on my experience. They have aggressive marketing and spam you even when you're a customer. Their pricing structure feels unfair—like if you're using a Digital Ocean instance at $10, it costs less without CloudWays, but at higher prices, the costs add up significantly for the managed service. I faced issues with WordPress because of PHP limits, which required a lot of back-and-forth with support, defeating the purpose of having a managed service in the first place. Plus, they make it super difficult to manage credit card details; I had to delete my account just to remove my card. It feels very shady overall.

I host some basic websites on CloudWays, and it's been fine for that. However, if you're utilizing it for a web application, you might find it limiting in terms of supported frameworks. Personally, I've had a great experience with Vercel for web apps, though it's not LAMP-based.

I've noticed that CloudWays has been declining over the years. While it's still decent for me, there have been several major issues, especially with customer support. Tech support is solid, but overall, customer service has taken a hit. If you decide to go for it, steer clear of their Rackspace email add-on; they've had significant deliverability issues, including getting blacklisted by some providers for months, which is pretty alarming.

One downside is that they don't give you root access, which can be limiting depending on your needs.
