I'm trying to decide between the Ultra 7 265k and the R7 9800x/x3d for a build focused on productivity, particularly for the Adobe suite (like After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop), as well as for gaming. I've heard that the 265k offers better integrated graphics and might be a solid choice, but I'm not sure if it will meet my needs for both productivity and gaming.

The Ultra 265k is definitely a stronger choice for video editing and productivity tasks—it's been shown to outperform the R7 9950x in that area. However, if you’re leaning more towards gaming, the R7 9800x3d is the winner. It really shines when it comes to single-core performance, making it ideal for games and certain applications like After Effects and Photoshop. It really comes down to your primary use case!

I see what you're asking, but just a heads up—the integrated graphics on the 265k might not cut it for gaming. It's not designed for that level of performance.

Both the 265k and 9800x3d perform similarly in workstation tasks. That said, the 265k is more efficient if you plan to run multiple applications in the background while rendering, thanks to its 12 E-cores. On the other hand, if you're serious about gaming, the 9800x3d will outclass the 265k pretty decisively. They're both solid picks, so don’t let anyone scare you away from choosing one over the other!

I'm thinking I might go with the 9800x3d, here's my current build layout!
