Hey everyone! 🙂
I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU on a 450 Tomahawk Max motherboard, paired with an 8GB RX 6600 GPU. I'm considering upgrading to a 16GB GPU soon. However, I'm wondering if my CPU would bottleneck the performance too much. I typically play esports and FPS games, and I game on a 2K 144Hz monitor. Here's my build for reference: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LWy9MC](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LWy9MC).
Thanks for your insights!

Your CPU can likely output more frames at 1440p than your current GPU. So a GPU upgrade would definitely be beneficial! Just be mindful of possible stutters as your GPU might outpace your CPU. Capping the frame rate could help with that. If you mainly play esports games, consider a 5070 or even a 970/9070 XT, depending on your budget.
A 16GB GPU like the 9060 XT would be a good choice, but you might hit some CPU bottlenecks. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, upgrading your CPU to a 5600 or 5700X (with a BIOS update) could really help balance your system.
Thank you 🙂
I usually suggest upgrading the CPU before the GPU. It’s a quick swap to install a new GPU but having a strong CPU will ensure you’re ready for the new hardware. A 5700X with a 5800 XT or a 9060 XT would be a solid combo!
Thanks for the help!
