Got a Scary Email about My Password and Webcam—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I need some advice. I just checked my email today and found a pinned message that raised a red flag 😱. It includes my password (not sure if it's my current one, but it's definitely one I used before), and it claims that a trojan accessed my computer, webcam, and files. The email threatens that if I don't pay $500 in bitcoin, it will send a message to all my contacts. I'm freaking out a bit because I can't seem to delete this email—it just keeps coming back. What do you recommend I do?

This sounds like a scam, don’t worry! They probably found an old password from some leaked database and are trying to scare you into paying. I get emails like this too, and honestly, it’s all just a ploy to get your money. Just ignore it!

Thanks for the reassurance! But do you know how I can get rid of this annoying pinned message? It just keeps showing up.

Yep, total scam! It’s wild that your email didn’t flag it as spam. If you're really concerned, reboot in safe mode and run your antivirus software just to be safe. Most of us have been through data breaches at some point. If it were truly a risky situation, you’d be dealing with account lockout threats instead of this nonsense. Still, for your peace of mind, change your password and maybe tape over your webcam just in case!

Haha, the tape over the cam is a classic! Better safe than sorry!
