Hey everyone,
I could really use some help troubleshooting my gaming PC setup. I recently got a prebuilt system where I selected the parts myself. Here's what I'm working with:
- GPU: RX9070XT
- CPU: Intel 13700K
- RAM: 32GB
- PSU: 850w
I was expecting top-notch performance since this setup is considered high-end, but I'm experiencing some serious issues. Even when I run games for the first time that recommend 'Ultra' settings, I'm struggling to get decent frame rates. For instance, playing at 1440p on medium or lower settings in games like Helldivers 2, Fortnite, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, I'm only seeing around 50-80 fps, and it can dip as low as 15 fps in Helldivers and 25 fps in Fortnite during heavy action. Also, there are noticeable hitching and stutter during gameplay.
I've heard from others who are using 3070s or even older CPUs and they seem to be getting much better and more stable frame rates, which is really disheartening. Even the Xbox Series X is performing better!
I'm new to the PC gaming scene, so I'm not sure why my PC is underperforming like this and I'm feeling a bit lost. Any advice or guidance would be super appreciated! Thanks!

Have you tried using UserBenchmark? While it has its biases, it’s a great way to see how your setup stacks up against others with the same components. You can find specific metrics about your performance and compare them to similar builds. Just keep in mind to look at the overall performance rather than focusing solely on individual components. This could shed some light on what’s causing the performance dips you're experiencing.
Sounds tough! Welcome to the gaming world—sometimes it's a hassle to figure these things out. Just keep in mind that achieving peak performance can take tweaking your system here and there. Good luck!
There could be several reasons for your issues! First off, your CPU (the Intel 13700K) has been known to have some degradation problems, so checking its load with tools like RivaTuner might help identify if that’s part of the issue.
Additionally, make sure your RAM is set up correctly with the XMP profile—this can affect performance too, although it usually shouldn't cause a drastic drop like that.
Another thing to consider is the GPU's power connection; if it’s not snug, it can lead to instability. Lastly, ensure all your games are stored on an SSD rather than an HDD, as this can greatly improve load times and performance. Don't hesitate to run through a troubleshooting checklist before thinking about sending anything back!
Exactly! Also, it’s wise to troubleshoot before considering an RMA. Often, some small adjustments can make a huge difference!
Be sure everything’s set up properly! I found this guide that can help with some optimal configurations for your setup: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/s/XUHJ9Acznl. It might just point you in the right direction!
XMP settings usually won’t knock off 50% of performance; that's likely a miscommunication somewhere. Typically, you might lose around 5% at the most depending on specific games and setups.
