Is the Ryzen 5 9600 and RX 9060XT a Solid Gaming Setup?

I'm helping my husband build a budget gaming PC, and I typically work with Intel and Nvidia setups, so I'm a bit out of my depth with AMD. After doing some research, I'm considering the combination of a Ryzen 5 9600 and a 16GB RX 9060XT. The most demanding game he wants to play is Cyberpunk. Do you think this combo will meet his needs? I'd also love to hear the pros and cons, and what the comparable Intel and Nvidia options would be.

If your husband has his sights set on path tracing in Cyberpunk, then the 5060 Ti would be better suited. Otherwise, your original combo is still fantastic and should serve him really well.

To be honest, he probably doesn't even know what path tracing is. I'm just wanting to set him up with something good enough so he can finally ditch the Xbox and stop bugging me to play those games.

The Ryzen 5 9600 and RX 9060XT is a great combo, especially for the price. It really depends on the resolution he’ll be gaming at and what kind of frame rates he's aiming for. If he's just looking for something that performs reasonably well at 1080p, this setup should deliver. For equivalent Intel and Nvidia components, the Ryzen 9600 stacks up similarly to the i5 14600K, and the 9060XT is like a 5060 Ti. However, AMD is generally the better choice for gaming right now.

His monitor is 1080p and he's coming from an Xbox S, so anything over 60fps should be fine for him. Would you say paying an extra $70-$100 for the 5060 Ti is worth it, considering it has DLSS? I want this transition to be smooth, or else he might just get frustrated and revert back to Xbox.

Just remember, FSR 4 offers faster performance compared to DLSS in some cases.

Honestly, this is one of the best budget setups out there, especially if you're in the US. If you're outside the US, you might also consider a 7500F from AliExpress, which is a decent, albeit slightly weaker choice. As for the Nvidia equivalent, yeah, it's definitely the 5060 Ti—nothing else from Intel can match that performance.

Oh, and just to clarify, the 5060 Ti really does dominate in terms of raw performance.
