I've got a bit of a situation. I recently moved and misplaced my spare power cables, so I'm left with just two 8-pin connectors for my PSU that connect to my current 3080. I'm looking to upgrade to a 5080, which requires three 8-pin connectors. I'm considering buying a dual 8-pin to 12-pin adapter rated for 600W. Would that work, or should I just get an additional 8-pin to 8-pin cable and use the adapter that comes with the 5080? My PSU is a 1000W EVGA.

You should definitely reach out to EVGA directly about this. They've been known to change pinouts even among the same models, so it’s better to get the right info straight from them. Don't take chances with your new 5080. Also, the Corsair adapter you linked is not a good idea—it’s specifically for Corsair Type-5 PSUs only. Better safe than sorry!
I didn’t realize that was just an adapter. Good to know!
Totally agree! It's always safer to stick with cables from your PSU manufacturer.
