Why did my Azure DTU database automatically switch to the general-purpose tier?

I'm really puzzled about something that just happened with my Azure database. I keep a close eye on my billing, and to my shock, I saw my charges spike from $16 to $30 in just three days. This all started on September 14 and there's only one person (me) who has access to that database. Is there a way to investigate what might have triggered this sudden cost increase?

You should definitely check the activity log for your database and server. If any changes were made in the last 30 days, they'll be documented there. Also, don't overlook the change analysis service, which can show you modifications at the subscription or resource group levels.

I took a look at the activity log and found a lot of entries. For instance:

- An update to the SQL database was started and succeeded recently.
- There were also multiple actions showing database updates happening close to when I noticed the price change.
